We see prayer walking as a two-fold ministry. Spiritual warfare is the first. “Door to door” or “marketplace” evangelism is the second fold. In each case, prayer walking must be God directed. This ministry is a matter of faith and calling. There is no room for presumption.
God has directed us to certain places to pray. In each of those locations God has directed our prayers. But before we went we spent many hours in corporate prayer, learning how to hear from God. At times we have asked forgiveness of certain sins associated with a particular location as God directed (which in many cases included our own sins). At other times we have prayed, as God directed, against certain powers and principalities that were over the location.
We have discovered that we cannot pray for an area unless we are personally involved in that area. Hence the need for door to door evangelism. We do not go out alone. We have intercessors on the scene as well as back at headquarters. As we go out we go with people whom God has identified as having spiritual authority in the location where we are doing the prayer walking.
We usually pray for the sick and often see immediate answers to prayer. We go out with anticipation, but we have no agenda other than listening to God’s direction. We have no specific expectations as to what might happen, but seldom are we not surprised by what God will do.
Prayer walking was part of Jesus’ ministry. He said we would do the work that He did. God is saying that “harvest is ready but the laborers are few.” Are you prepared to go into the highways and byways of your area? God will meet you there if you go with His preparation. Please let us know if we may be of assistance to you in exploring the exciting possibilities of prayer walking. We believe it is a large part of God’s revival for this day in our nation.
